The ash had some incredible natural marks left behind by wood-boring insects, creating a pattern and texture that I wanted to celebrate rather than hide.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI took the piece a step further by \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003ecarefully burning the wood with a torch, sanding it back, and finishing it with tung oil\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. The process revealed layers of grain, texture, and color that make this box completely one of a kind.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe hinged lid is made from \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eupcycled cherry wood that I rescued from being burned in a fire pit several years ago\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.
