This one-of-a-kind treasure chest is made from three locally grown woods—heirloom Apple, Plum, and Alder—chosen for their distinct color and grain. With its warm natural finish, rounded edges, and soft white felt lining, it makes a thoughtful home for jewelry, keepsakes, watches, and small treasures.

A Story in the Wood

On the front, the Apple wood holds a detail I chose to preserve: the cross section of an old screw hole, complete with visible thread marks from the tree’s earlier life. It is a small reminder that this box was made from real wood with a history, not a uniform manufactured material.

Made by Hand

The front and back are heirloom Apple, the sides are Plum, and the top and bottom are Alder. I gave each edge a smooth roundover for a comfortable feel, added discreet barrel hinges to the treasure-chest lid, and lined the bottom and underside of the lid with super-soft white felt.

Inside and out, the box is finished with tung oil to bring out the natural color and grain of all three woods while keeping the look warm and understated.
