A one-of-a-kind keepsake box with a story that starts with a tree and ends with a second chance.

This unique handcrafted box is made from locally grown ash from a tree on my own property. The ash had some incredible natural marks left behind by wood-boring insects, creating a pattern and texture that I wanted to celebrate rather than hide.

I took the piece a step further by carefully burning the wood with a torch, sanding it back, and finishing it with tung oil. The process revealed layers of grain, texture, and color that make this box completely one of a kind.

The hinged lid is made from upcycled cherry wood that I rescued from being burned in a fire pit several years ago. Instead of becoming firewood, that beautiful piece of cherry found a new life as part of this keepsake box.

The lid pull is made from a piece of driftwood from the Oregon Coast, adding another little piece of the Pacific Northwest to the story.

Inside, the bottom of the box and the underside of the lid are lined with super-soft gray felt, creating a soft place for your keepsakes.

This box is a great example of what I love about woodworking: taking wood that already has a history and giving it another chapter.
