Bring a little piece of the Pacific Northwest to your daily tea ritual with this one-of-a-kind handcrafted tea box. Made entirely from locally grown and locally milled wood, this open-top organizer combines beautiful live-edge Ash with richly grained heirloom Apple wood for a piece that is both functional and full of character.

The outer box is crafted from live-edge Ash, with the natural edges preserved to showcase the organic shape of the wood. I intentionally left some of the insect markings and channels visible rather than removing them. These natural details tell part of the tree’s story and give the Ash a texture and appearance that simply can’t be duplicated with commercially produced lumber.

The four sides are joined with mitered corners, allowing the grain and live edges to remain the focus of the design. Inside, heirloom Apple wood dividers create six individual compartments for organizing different varieties of tea. The Apple has beautiful natural grain markings of its own, adding warmth and contrast against the lighter Ash.

Unlike a traditional tea chest, this box has no lid. The open design keeps your tea easy to see, easy to organize, and always within reach. It makes a beautiful addition to a kitchen counter, coffee and tea station, dining room, or office—and there’s no need to open a lid every time you want to choose a tea.

The entire piece is finished inside and out with tung oil, which brings out the natural grain, color variations, insect markings, and character of both woods while leaving the wood with a warm, natural appearance.

What makes this tea box especially unique is where the wood comes from. All of the wood was grown locally and milled right here at Locally Grown Gifts. Rather than starting with mass-produced lumber, I work with locally sourced trees and allow the individual character of each piece of wood to become part of the finished design.
